Classification guide

How entries are labelled

The first label identifies the catalogue section. The smaller lines beneath it explain Sia’s role and whether the recording is released, public, circulating, documented or otherwise unconfirmed.

01

Official Sia release

A recording released with Sia as the principal artist, including album tracks, singles, covers, soundtrack songs and distinct rerecordings.

02

Feature / collaboration

A substantial guest, duet, co-lead, band or shared-project performance rather than a Sia-led release.

03

Backing / brief vocal

A confirmed harmony, background part, uncredited appearance or short audible contribution.

04

Reused / public

Previously recorded or sampled vocals, or a documented public performance outside a standard commercial release.

05

Demo / song pitch

A distinct Sia guide, reference or pitch vocal made for another artist or project. Each entry identifies whether the surviving material is a full demo, partial demo, excerpt or snippet only.

06

Leaked / circulating

Other unreleased Sia audio reported to have circulated without an authorised release. File names, dates and metadata may remain uncertain.

07

Documented unreleased

A title known through registrations, session evidence, snippets or reporting without established circulating full audio.

08

Other credit

Project-only, announced or writer-only entries where a standard confirmed Sia vocal does not apply.

Catalogue overview

What is included in the archive

Released recordings, collaborations, supporting vocals and unreleased material are separated so each type of entry is easy to understand.

Demos and song pitches preserve Sia’s own guide or reference performance, even when another artist later released the finished song. Every demo is identified as a full demo, partial demo, excerpt or snippet only, with the intended performer or project shown when it is documented.

Other or unconfirmed credits 19

Project-only credits, announced material and writer-only exclusions are kept visible for completeness without being counted as confirmed vocal recordings.

Counting rules

When a version becomes a separate entry

The deciding question is whether the version contains a meaningfully new performance, not simply whether it has a different title or release date.

Usually counted separately

  • A newly recorded lead or guest vocal
  • A genuine rerecording, demo or song pitch
  • A different-language vocal performance
  • A live recording with clear catalogue significance

Usually grouped with the original

  • Radio, single and clean edits using the same master
  • Remasters, sped-up or slowed versions
  • Remixes that only reuse the original vocal
  • Repeated appearances on compilations or deluxe editions

Questions

Sia catalogue FAQ

Quick explanations for the decisions that most often affect catalogue totals.

What kinds of recordings are included?

The archive includes official Sia releases, features and collaborations, backing or brief vocals, reused vocals, public performances, demos and song pitches, leaked or circulating recordings, documented unreleased titles and related credits that need additional context.

What is a demo or song pitch?

It is a distinct Sia vocal used to present the melody, lyrics, phrasing or arrangement to another performer, label, producer or project. Every entry is marked as a full demo, partial demo, excerpt or snippet only, and the intended performer or project is named when documented.

Why can a Sia demo and another artist’s released song both appear?

They are separate recordings by different vocalists. Sia’s guide performance documents her recorded catalogue, while the final artist’s master is included only when Sia also has an audible backing, featured or reused-vocal role.

Why are demos, other leaks and documented unreleased songs separated?

Demos and song pitches are grouped by their purpose, leaked or circulating entries are unreleased Sia recordings reported in public circulation, and documented unreleased titles may be known only through registrations, sessions, snippets or reporting.

What is the difference between an official Sia release and a feature?

An official Sia release presents Sia as the principal artist. A feature or collaboration is a substantial performance on another artist’s recording or within a shared project, duet, band or co-lead release.

What does “leaked / circulating” mean?

It means audio is reported to have circulated publicly without an authorised release. It does not guarantee that every file name, date, feature credit or version description is accurate. Demos and song pitches are shown in their own section rather than counted again here.

What is a documented unreleased title?

It is a title supported by registrations, session references, collaborator statements, snippets or other catalogue evidence where circulating complete audio has not been established.

Why does EverySongBy not link to leaked songs?

The archive records catalogue information without distributing unauthorised audio. Circulating files may involve copyright infringement, stolen material, unfinished work and inaccurate metadata.

Are remixes and alternate versions counted separately?

Only when they contain meaningful newly recorded material or represent a genuinely distinct performance. An edit, remaster or remix that reuses the same vocal is normally grouped with the original recording.

Why are some writer credits shown under other credits?

A songwriting credit alone does not prove that Sia recorded a demo or appears on the final master. Writer-only and project-only connections remain outside the vocal and demo sections unless a Sia performance is documented.

Why do only some tracks have extra chart or history context?

Extra context is added only when reliable chart, certification, award or release sources provide something useful. Notes may combine the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada or worldwide charts rather than treating one national market as a global measure. A track without an extra box is not being treated as less important; it simply means a useful, reliable source has not yet been added.
